Sandals Saint Vincent: An Insider's Look at the Newest Sandals Resort

I recently travelled to Saint Vincent for the Diamond Awards Gala, where I was honoured to be recognized as one of Canada's top travel advisors for Saint Vincent & The Grenadines. The gala was a highlight, but I also had the chance to tour Sandals Saint Vincent, explore some of its standout accommodations and spend a free day enjoying the resort.

As the newest Sandals resort, it feels like a fresh chapter for the brand. This resort is a part of Sandals 2.0, and after experiencing the property firsthand, I can see why. The design feels contemporary, the suites have some interesting features, and the setting is beautiful.

Here are a few things that stood out during my visit, along with some insider tips I'd share with anyone considering a stay.

A Beautiful Setting in Saint Vincent

The first thing I noticed about Sandals Saint Vincent was the setting. The resort sits along Buccament Bay, surrounded by lush green hills, tropical vegetation and a lovely white sandy beach.

Saint Vincent feels different from some of the more developed Caribbean destinations. The landscape is incredibly green, with mountains rising behind the coastline. It gives the resort a beautiful backdrop and makes you feel like you're somewhere a little more off the beaten path.

If you enjoy a resort where you can spend your days relaxing but also have the option to get out and explore, Saint Vincent is worth considering. There is plenty to discover beyond the resort, and I'd be tempted to add an island excursion to a longer stay.

What Makes Sandals 2.0 Different?

Having visited other Sandals resorts, I found Sandals Saint Vincent had a noticeably contemporary feel. The design is modern, and there are some thoughtful touches in the accommodation options that make the experience a little different.

One thing I particularly liked was the variety of suite styles. Some have separate media rooms, others offer outdoor soaking tubs, and the resort also has its distinctive two-story overwater villas. It gives couples a few more options depending on how they like to spend their time away.

The all-inclusive experience is still a big part of the appeal. Meals, drinks, many activities, water sports and entertainment are included, so you don't have to plan every part of your day. You can be as active as you like or find a spot by the pool and stay there all afternoon.

Touring the Vincy Overwater Two-Story Villas

One of the highlights of my visit was touring the Vincy Overwater Two-Story Villas, and I can see why these would be such a special choice for a honeymoon or romantic getaway.

These overwater villas are designed for couples who want privacy and a little extra indulgence. The private terrace is perfect for stargazing together, complete with a telescope, while the outdoor soaking tub offers another way to unwind. You can stretch out on the patio loungers, step directly into the turquoise water or watch the fish swimming beneath your suite through the glass floors, which illuminate in the evening.

With a dedicated butler to take care of the details, you can settle into your own private overwater retreat and simply enjoy being together. For honeymooners looking for something truly memorable at Sandals Saint Vincent, the Vincy Two-Story Villas are definitely worth considering.

An Afternoon by the Pool

Along with touring the resort, I also had a free day to enjoy Sandals Saint Vincent, and we decided to spend part of it relaxing by the pool.

We rented a cabana beside the fabulous main pool, which was the perfect spot to settle in for the afternoon. We enjoyed food, drinks and the atmosphere, right in the heart of the resort.

Sometimes it's nice to put the touring aside and simply enjoy being there. Having a cabana gave us a comfortable place to relax, take a dip in the pool and enjoy the day without having to be anywhere else.

If you're planning a stay at Sandals Saint Vincent, I'd consider asking about the cabana options if you enjoy spending time by the pool. It's a lovely way to make an afternoon of it.

Getting Ready for the Gala in the Lady Palm Club Suite

I had the opportunity to see the Lady Palm Club Suite with Media Room and Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub while getting ready for the awards gala, and I was so impressed by the amount of space it offers.

The suite was huge! What really stood out was the separate media room, which gives you a completely different space to relax. I can picture couples putting on a movie and having a quiet evening after a day in the sun.

The patio also features a Tranquility Soaking Tub, which is a lovely extra if you enjoy having your own outdoor space.

It is a great suite, and I could see the appeal for couples who prefer a little more room rather than a traditional hotel layout. If you're comparing room categories at Sandals Saint Vincent, it's worth looking at the suites with these additional features.

Buccan Is Worth Knowing About

If you're researching the restaurants at Sandals Saint Vincent, make sure you look into Buccan.

It's a different kind of dining experience, centred on family style dining, Caribbean flavours and locally inspired ingredients. The concept is designed around sharing a variety of dishes rather than simply choosing a traditional individual entrée, making it a more social way to enjoy dinner.

I like seeing resorts do something that reflects the destination they're in, and the focus on local ingredients and cooking traditions gives Buccan its own identity within the resort's dining options.

Ask me about pre-booking dinner before you go.

More to Enjoy at Sandals Saint Vincent

Beyond the overwater villas, spacious suites and poolside atmosphere, there is plenty included to keep you busy during your stay.

A few highlights worth knowing about when considering a Sandals Saint Vincent vacation include:

  • Pools and beach: Spend your days relaxing by the pool or enjoying the white sandy beach.

  • Water sports: Activities include kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing and snorkeling, water skiing and scuba diving!

  • Fitness and wellness: There is a fitness centre for keeping up with your routine, along with the Red Lane Spa for treatments at an additional cost.

  • Dining options: Explore different cuisines and settings, from Caribbean-inspired dishes to seafood, Italian and Japanese offerings.

  • Bars and evening entertainment: Enjoy cocktails, social spaces and entertainment after the sun goes down.

The beauty of an all-inclusive resort is having the flexibility to do as much or as little as you like. You can plan an active day filled with water sports and fitness, or spend most of your time enjoying the pool, beach and included amenities.

My Insider Tips for Sandals Saint Vincent

There are a couple of practical things I'd keep in mind when planning a trip to Sandals Saint Vincent.

Be prepared for the airport transfer.

The drive from Argyle International Airport to the resort is around 45 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions. The transfer is included with your Sandals stay, but the roads can be winding in places.

If you tend to get motion sickness, I'd bring Gravol or your preferred remedy in your carry-on and take it according to the package directions before the drive. It's one of those small things that can make the journey much more comfortable.

Pack insect repellent.

Saint Vincent is lush and tropical, so I'd definitely bring bug spray for the evenings. It's handy to have if you're sitting outside enjoying a drink or spending time outdoors after sunset.

Camouflage clothing is prohibited for civilians in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Be sure to leave any camouflage clothing, including hats, bags and accessories, at home to avoid any issues during your trip.

Leave time to enjoy the resort.

It's tempting to fill every day with excursions, but I'd leave some time to enjoy the property itself. Between the pool, beach, restaurants and included activities, there is plenty to do without leaving the resort. Our afternoon in the cabana was a good reminder that sometimes the best part of a trip is having nowhere you need to be.

Take a close look at the room categories.

If you're considering an overwater villa or one of the larger suites, compare the layouts and amenities carefully. The room you choose can make a real difference, especially if you're celebrating a special occasion. I can help you find the perfect suite for your getaway.

Explore beyond the resort if you have time.

Saint Vincent offers beautiful scenery and opportunities for island adventures. Depending on your interests, you could look into a rainforest experience, a scenic island tour or a boat excursion to explore more of the surrounding Grenadines.

Is Sandals Saint Vincent Worth Considering?

After spending time at Sandals Saint Vincent, I can see the appeal for couples who want an all-inclusive holiday in a beautiful setting, with contemporary accommodations and plenty of options for how to spend their time.

I'd particularly look at it for a honeymoon, anniversary or couples' getaway. The overwater villas are a standout option, while suites such as the Lady Palm Club Suite offer more space and a few extras that make the stay feel different from a standard hotel room.

What I liked most was the combination of the natural setting and the resort itself. You can spend your days enjoying the beach and pool, try different restaurants, or head out to see more of Saint Vincent if you want a little adventure.

It's always helpful to experience a resort firsthand, because every property has its own feel. My visit gave me a better sense of the different accommodation options and what guests can expect when they arrive.
